I am an award winning, Ivy League-educated teacher with a doctorate in English and twenty years experience in both high school and college classrooms.
Throughout my career, I have excelled at working one-on-one with students of every age, adopting approaches to suit their individual learning styles and using my patience, passion, and expertise to help them develop their writing, research, and critical reading skills.
I’ve been a professor in Portland State University’s Honors College, where I coached hundreds of seniors through completion of their honors thesis projects. I’ve also been English department chair at St. Benedict’s Prep, a Newark, New Jersey middle school and high school, where I supervised eight teachers, led institutional reforms to improve reading skills, designed eight courses, moderated the literary magazine, and coached numerous winners of the citywide high school writing contest.
I live now in Portland with my wife and two children.
